Karimnagar: Former Congress MP Ponnam Prabhakar on Thursday alleged that the TRS government was deceiving the people of Telangana, especially the people of Karimnagar by making hollow promises.

The former MP accompanied with Congress leaders met with the Health Minister Lakshma Reddy here at Roads &Buildings guest house in the town and handed over the video clippings and news items published on 4 August 2014 about the announcement made by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao of sanctioning a medical college to Karimnagar.

When the Manakodur MLA Rasamai Balakishna tried to stop the former MP Ponnam Prabhakar, Congress leaders and the police officials intervened and brought the situation under control.

Later, speaking to the media persons, Ponnam said that there were no signs of setting up a medical college in Karimnagar which was sanctioned by the KCR three years ago

The TRS government was not interested in establishing a Medical College in Karimnagar which was sanctioned by KCR three years ago. However, it was taking all necessary steps for inaugurating a Medical College in Medak which was sanctioned only last year, he lamented.

He also said that in the united AP, the Telangana Congress leaders fought for separate stateand also for safeguarding the interests of Karimnagar against Seemandhra leaders. But now, the Telangana leaders were fighting against themselves neglecting the interests of the people of the region.

During the Congress rule, the then Karimnagar District Collector Smitha Sabharwal sent a proposal for establishing a Medical College in Karimnagar.

The file could be found in the CMO office, he pointed out. At least now the State government must take necessary steps for establishing the college immediately, Ponnam demanded.
