The Collector inspected the percolation tank near the forest region and participated in block plantation of saplings under the third phase of Haritha Haram programme here at Kalleda village of Jagtial mandal in the district on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, the District Collector said that under the third phase of Haritha Haram, nearly 25 lakh of saplings were planted at several places across the district till Thursday.
Collector Sharat said that all the necessary steps were taken for planting the saplings by preparing a perfect plan by identifying the open and suitable places across the district.
In the Kalleda forest region, as many as 19,000 saplings would be planted in block plantation and steps would be taken to protect them using tree guards and watering them regularly.
An amount of Rs 5 would be paid for planting a single sapling and work would be allotted to the villagers under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, informed the Collector.
There is a demand for around 12 lakh saplings of palm trees in the district and as of now, only six lakh saplings of palm trees were available. Necessary steps were being taken for procuring the remaining saplings of palm tree from the neighbouring districts, assured Collector Sharat.
The District Collector said that the officials of various departments were actively participating in the third phase of Haritha Haram programme by coordinating with each other. They were trying to achieve the allotted target of planting around 132 lakhs of saplings in the district within the prescribed time limit, he added.
The Collector ordered the representatives of Haritha Dalam to take care of the planted saplings and protect them by watering them regularly.
District Forest Officer Ramesh, Assistant Panchayat Raj Officer Lakhsminarayana, RDO, Jagtial MPDO Sri Latha and FRO Sadanandam were present on the occasion.
