Phani Krishna, Madhav Kandukuri and Naresh Kumar, alumni of BITS Pilani (Birla Institute of Technology and Science) started ‘Sukatha.com’ to encourage regional language writers to write stories and improve their writing capabilities.

After their graduation in BITS-Pilani, the trio wanted to do something for the society and started ‘Sukatha.com’ (currently a Telugu Website) in February 2017.

“English language has many writers and great content. But there is a dearth of quality fiction content in regional languages due to lack of support and opportunities.

We want to be the one-stop-destination for regional creative content of highest quality and diversity. Building sustainable interest in native language in the era of massive globalisation while providing a global stage for creative talent is our motto,” said Naresh Kumar, one of the co-founders, Sukatha.com.

He also said that ‘Sukatha’ will connect talented and passionate writers with ardent readers across the world and encourage all types of creative works in the form of short stories, poems, lyrics, arts, cartoons, captivating articles, and much more from lesser known but talented writers as well.

Naresh says “According to recent statistics, India produces 84,000 titles every year whereas an average bookstore has shelf space of only 2,000 to 3,000.

So, there is the need for having an online platform. The assorted model of stories will also give reader an opportunity to read best works from a pool of best writers as opposed to reading all stories from a single book or author,”

“We deeply believe in the fact that a win-win relationship is the only sustainable mode of engagement with our writers/readers.

This motivates us to strive for the betterment of our partners. Apart from bridging the gap between readers and writers by creating greater visibility, we help our writers enhance the quality of their work through various means, giving our readers the best possible experience in the process,” shares Naresh.

Sukatha team will also launch their services in all Indian languages in near future.
