Khammam: The Communist Party of India (CPI) demanded the government to allot double bedroom houses to all shelterless poor.

In this regard, CPI city secretary Jani Miya and party activists gave a representation to the District Revenue Officer Shiva Srinivas along with the applications of eligible shelterless poor here in Khammam on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, Jani Miya said many poor people were living in miserable conditions without proper shelter, especially people living under Corporation limits were facing severe hardships due to unemployment, price rise etc.

“While some are even starving to death, others are struggling hard to survive with no proper shelter to live,” he pointed.

He demanded the government make sure all the welfare schemes reach the poor and needy. For this officials and people representatives must take the responsibility of identifying the real beneficiaries, he suggested.

CPI leaders Mohammad Salaam, Mekala Srinivas Rao, Yanali Sambashiva Reddy, Nune Shashidhar, Chamakuri Venkanna, Gade Lakshminarayana, Pital Krishnamurthy, Dasari Ramu, SK Chana and Durga were present along with others.
