Narsampet (Warangal Rural): Narsampet town bandh called by an all-party joint action committee on Friday was total and peaceful.

The bandh was called with a demand to set up Warangal Rural district headquarters at Narsampet. All the educational institutions and business establishments were closed for the day. There was a partial impact on public transport and functioning of government offices due to the bandh.

Local MLA D Madhava Reddy, the JAC chairman A Srinivas and others speaking to the presspersons demanded the State government establishing of the district headquarters at the town. The town, they said, was centrally located and has got all facilities required to serve as a district headquarters.

TDP senior leader R Prakash Reddy has also wanted the government to set up the district headquarters at Narsampet, where there were RDO and DSP offices and large extent government land available to build the collectorate.

He objected the reported decision of the government to build Warangal Rural district collectorate at Mogilicharla village under GWMC limits. The decision was illogical as locating the collectorate in Warangal city limits could not ensure any development.

Prakash Reddy has found fault with the creation of five districts by dividing erstwhile Warangal. He felt that creation of Warangal Urban and Rural districts was unsound decision. The government should consider the demands of Parkal and Wardhannapet people to merge their places into Warangal Urban district.

“It would be a better choice to have a single Warangal district instead of Warangal Urban and Rural districts as the Rural district has lacked proper size and shape,” he further said.

Meanwhile at Parkal, the Parkal Zilla Sadhana JAC activists have staged a dharna and rasto roko in the town on the day in support of their demand to establish the rural district headquarters at the town.

The JAC leaders K Rajeshwar Rao, D Sambaiah, N Chiranjeevi and others wanted the government to take an immediate decision regarding their demand.
