State having stunted growth under TRS rule: CPI

​Khammam: The state joint secretary of the Communist Party of India (CPI), Kunamneni Sambashiva Rao, alleged that the all-round development of Telangana was not taking place under the reign of TRS government.

Speaking at a meeting of the district body of CPI party in Khammam on Friday, Kunamneni stated that neglecting peoples’ problems and concentrating on laying of roads and constructing of buildings cannot be called as development.

“When there is a change in the lifestyle of common people and programmes introduced result in the betterment of their lives, then it is called real development,” Kunamneni felt.

Stating that all-round development of Telangana cannot be achieved unless the farm sector in the state was developed, he alleged that in the name of development, the TRS was trying to gain political mileage and was indulging in corruption.

“The benefits of some of the schemes are reaching people only after bribing the officials or lower-grade staff members of the concerned offices,” he said, adding that there was no change in the lives of people in separate state.

Stating that the Khammam district is robbed off from its industries post reorganisation of districts, the CPI leader called for setting up of new industries in the district to address the employment issue.

“Since coal is available in larger quantities in Khammam, a thermal power station must be established here along with introducing special projects for all- round development of Khammam district,” he demanded.

Party district secretary Bagam Hemanth Rao, Mahila Samakya president Potu Kalavathi and the representatives of various peoples’ organisations attended the meeting.
