1.85 lakh saplings to be planted in Khammam soon
District Collector DS Lokesh Kumar has said that Telanganaku Haritha Haram, the flagship programme of the State government, was in full swing with the cooperation of officials, elected representatives and people.Â

Taking part in the plantation drive at Gubbagurthi forest area under Konijerla mandal on Sunday, he said efforts were on to complete the plantation of 1.85 lakh saplings as early as possible. “In this phase, we have planned majority of plantation in forest areas,” Lokesh said.
Referring to the measures taken up by the administration to protect the saplings, Commissioner of Police Tafseer Iqbal said they have noticed missing of tree guards in some areas. Stringent action would be taken against those miscreants stealing the tree guards, he said. As many as 250 trainee constables took part in the plantation drive.
