Hyderabad: A small effort adds up to protect the world from global warming and make the world pollution free. Students of the Primary Wing of Sister Nivedita School (SNS) enthusiastically participated in the Haritha Haram programme as initiated by the Telangana State Government.

The main objective behind it is to create awareness among the students to work towards ecological balance and environmental protection. A plantation drive was held in the school premises. The principal of the school, Jayanthi Venkataraman and vice principals planted the plants along with the students and ruled out the common misconception that we need land to grow plants.

As most herbs and vegetables need the depth of only upto one foot to grow, the young ones sowed the seeds like spinach, methi, green chilies etc in the used bottles and trays. The students conveyed the message to the society that healthy herbs and vegetables can be grown at home without chemicals too.

Around 1000(thousand) saplings were planted in and around the school premises. Throughout the week the children were made aware about how to plant and nurture the plants.

This event was aimed at bringing the empathy among the young minds towards the plants and inculcates the socio economic responsibility among them.
