Of cows and their importance

Director of Animal Husbandry Department, Dr D Venkateshwarulu released a book, ‘Gau Sanjeevini’ at Ravindra Bharati over the weekend.

Published by Rytu Nestham Publication, the book is written by Dr Mulagaleti Sivaram and aims to stress on the significance of cows in the society.

Dr Bandaru Shyam Kumar; Y Venkateshwara Rao, Dr S Krishnamachary; Dr V Laxma Reddy, Managing Director, Telangana State Sheep & Goat Development Cooperative Federation Ltd and others were present.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Venkateshwarulu expressed anguish that the present generation is not attaching required importance to cows.

Earlier, the author spoke in detail about his experience as a veterinary, in understanding the uniqueness of cows, its benefits, the risks of its falling sick etc.

“As a practitioner of allopathy, I had the opportunity of treating cows for ailments. However, in several situations the rural folk shared with me the options of natural remedies for their treatment, which slowly altered my opinion on the significance of natural medicine.

It is this rich experience and the lack of awareness amongst the people, which motivated me to write the book,” he said.
