Khammam: The State government in the name of creating Bangaru Telangana was actually pushing people into more problems by increasing burden on them by accepting the conditions of World Bank, alleged state committee member of the CPM Buggaveeti Sarala.

Speaking at a meeting held with mandal secretaries and mandal in-charges of the party at Sundarayya Bhavan in Khammam on Tuesday, Sarala alleged that in the name of Mission Bhagiratha, the State government was supplying only 100 litres of water. The government was trying to fix metres to water taps for collecting tax from the people, which are the rules imposed by the World Bank, she said.

Stating that the CPM party severely opposed the government’s decision of fixing metres to water taps in the past, Sarala added that it was the responsibility of any government to provide the basic facility of providing water to the people. But, the government was trying to deviate from providing basic facilities.

“It is collecting huge property tax and is now trying to collect tax by fixing metres to water taps,” she criticised.

Though the Ministers have been laying stones for various schemes and projects, the Khammam has not witnessed any real development under the rule of TRS government for the last three years, she added, seeking the government to provide pure drinking water to people free of cost without collecting any tax and without fixing meters to water taps.
