He along with Finance Minister Eatala Rajender and Advisor of Telangana State government Vivek participated in the third phase of Haritha Haram, organised by Singareni Collieries Company Limited at Centenary Colony of Ramgiri mandal in Peddapalli on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, the R&B Minister said that due to enormous decrease of the natural wealth i.e., the forest wealth in the State, drastic changes were taking place in the weather. To overcome certain problems due to sudden weather changes in the coming up days, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had launched the unique programme of planting saplings under Haritha Haram for increasing the forest cover.

“By successfully implementing the plantation drive in the State with the active participation of all sections of people, we can get rid of problems that occur due sudden weather changes. Every planted sapling must be protected by arranging tree guards along with watering it regularly,” advised the Minister.

Finance Minister E Rajendar said to get rid of the problems created by monkeys in villages and to send them back to their natural habitat and for plenty of rainfall, everyone must participate actively in the Haritha Haram programme. All the officials from village-level to district-level along with coordinating different sections of people must participate in the programme, which will increase the forest cover and prevent pollution giving fresh air to present and upcoming generations, he suggested.

Advisor of the State government Vivek said that the government was determined to increase the forest cover to 33 per cent by keeping the target of planting of about 230 crores of saplings in several phases under the programme.

Haritha Haram programme is third of its kind across the world taken up the State government for protecting the environment. Every member of the family must take initiation to participate actively in the programme and must plant a sapling along with protecting it until grows into a tree, he advised.

Manthani MLA Putta Madhu, in-charge Collector S Prabhakar Reddy, District Superintendent of Police Vijayendar Reddy, Assistant Commissioner of Police of Godavarikhani Apoorva Rao and the representatives of the Singareni Collieries Company Limited were present along with others.
