Kapus demand exclusive corporation

​Luxettipet: Demanding an exclusive corporation for the Kapus, Munnuru Kapu Rythu Rakshana Vedika on Tuesday embarked on a 16-day bike rally across the Telangana State.

Paying rich tributes to the people’s leader and senior TRS leader late Purella Lakshman, the Vedika convener Chamakuru Raju and co-convener Sripati Suresh Kumar flagged off the rally at Narsapur in Dandepalli mandal.

They demanded earmarking of Rs 5,000 crore for the Kapu community and assignment of three acres of government land to poor Munnuru Kapu families. Reminding that 18 per cent of the State’s population is Munnuru Kapu, they sought an exclusive corporation for them.

They wanted the government to build warehouses, capable of storing crops harvested in one crore acres, implement a sub-plan for the BCs earmarking Rs 50,000 crore, establish an agriculture college in each district, implementation of the Swaminathan Commission recommendations, set up 500 residential schools for BCs, 100 residential degree colleges for boys and an equal number for girls. They sought constitution of mirchi and turmeric boards.

They appealed to the government to extend ex-gratia of Rs 20 lakh to the bereaved family members of the farmers, who had committed suicide.

Munnuru Kapu association mandal president Satyanarayana, secretary Sugunakar and others participated in the programme.
