The District Task Force committee meeting was held with the officials of various departments, representatives of people's organisations, the managements of government and private educational institutions, representatives of NGOs along with Chairmen of Muslim, Christian and Hindu temples to discuss on administering of deworming medicines along with measles-rubella vaccinations to children below 19 years of age, here at IMA hall on Tuesday.

Speaking at the meeting the J-C said that for maintaining both physical and mental health of the children, children below 19 of years of age studying in government and private educational institutions must be administered with deworming and measles medicines without fail.

A mobile team will be formed with Vaccinator, ASHA and anganwadi worker along with volunteers for administering deworming medicines and measles-rubella vaccinations to children of high risk areas, he informed.

The managements of government and private educational institutions by conducting parent-teacher meetings must educate parents about the importance of administering of deworming medicines and about the measles vaccinations to the children, the J-C advised.

TB Programme Officer Dr Srinivas said that worms cause anemia, malnutrition, spasm, nausea and blood in stools, which will be visible among children. Physical and mental development would be delayed, he added.

The officials of various departments along with the representatives of different people organisations and NGOs must extend their cooperation to make the programme successful, Musharaf requested.

Senior Medical Officer Dr Atul had explained how to administer the medicines to children through power-point presentation.

Municipal Chairperson Vijay Lakshmi, District Medical and Health Officer Sugandini, Deputy DM&HO, District Nodal Officer Dr N Srinivas, District Immunisation Officer Dr Samiuddin, District and Rural Development Officer Aruna Sri and others attended the meeting.
