Suryapet gets 6 new warehouses
Showering sops on Suryapet district, the Department of Marketing has sanctioned another six godowns of capacity of each 5,000 MT, to come up at an estimated cost of Rs 18 crore. The department had earlier sanctioned four godowns.

After the formation of separate Telangana, the State government had sanctioned four godowns in Atmakur (s), Tungaturthi, Jajireddygudem and Nutankal mandals. Of them, warehouses at Tungaturthi and Nutankal mandal are ready for inauguration. Meanwhile, the construction of godowns in Jajireddygudem and Atmakur (s) reached final stage.
After seeing good yield of paddy in last Rabi season in the district and farmers hardships at market yards, Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy brought the matter to the notice of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and succeeded in getting another six godowns in the district, at Chilkur in Kodad Assembly constituency, Garidepally, Mattampally in Huzurnagar constituency and Suryapet rural, Chivemla and Penpahad mandals in Suryapet assembly constituency.
Apart from this, National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has given green signal for the construction of 5,000 MT capacity godown at Minister’s adopted village Apur under Gramajyothi programme. According to officials concerned, all these godowns are designed with latest technology and facilities includes proper ventilation, lighting and protection from mice.
Godowns constructed previously in Suryapet, Tirumalagiri, Kodad, Huzurnagar and Neredcherla market yards have a capacity of only 2,500 metric tonnes. Farmers of the district expressed their pleasure and appreciated the minister for his contribution towards sanctioning of warehouses.
