Warangal commissionerate police have rescued 147 child labourers as part of third phase of ‘Operation Muskaan’, an initiative of Union Ministry of Home Affairs to rescue/rehabilitate missing children. 

Warangal: Warangal commissionerate police have rescued 147 child labourers as part of third phase of ‘Operation Muskaan’, an initiative of Union Ministry of Home Affairs to rescue/rehabilitate missing children.

Nine special teams, each with one SI, three constables and one women constable were formed under three zones of the commissionerate to execute the operation. Two missing children were found among those rescued during the operation conducted in the month of July.

The rescued children were found working at business establishments under the commissionerate limits. 110 children were from the districts in Telangana, while 37 children belong to 13 other states and most of them were from Uttar Pradesh, informed Commissioner of Police G Sudheer Babu here on Wednesday.

Of the rescued children, 124 were boys and 23 were girls. Sixty-six children were rescued in central zone, 39 in west zone and 42 in east zone.

The rescued children were handed over to the District Child Welfare Committee. Eighteen cases were booked and 24 persons were arrested for employing child labourers, the CP said.
