Nizamabad: The Nizamabad town committee of Progressive Democratic Students Union (PDSU) on Thursday demanded immediate release of the organisation’s State leader Mahesh. PDSU members organised a demonstration at NRT Chowrasta against the police and burnt an effigy of the police.

Addressing the demonstrators, PDSU State secretary T Sarita accused the police of foisting a false case against the leader after PDSU extended support to the family of an intermediate student studying in Hyderabad, who committed suicide because of the alleged harassment of the management. The family is pressing for action against the institution.

She alleged that the police were trying to divert attention from the case and harassing the victim’s parents by registering false cases against them. Sarita stated that the police had also registered a case against Mahesh under Sections 353 and 186 and denied bail to him. She said it was ‘unfortunate’ for the police to support the college management.

While pressing for withdrawal of cases and release of Mahesh, the PDSU leader wanted the police to take action against the college management, after bringing to light the details of the suicide incident.

State PDSU leadersG Anvesh, city unit president A Soundarya, secretary V Mahender, joint secretary Praveen and leaders Rahul, Vasanth, Raju. Rajesh, Srikanth, Mallesh, Pattabhi, Rani, Nikhil and others participated in the protest.
