Seven of cheating gang nabbed
The Special Operations Team police along with Choutuppal police nabbed notorious cheating gang and apprehended seven offenders. They seized four draggers besides nine mobile phones and cash of Rs 8.09 lakh from their possession.

The arrested were identified as Pomar Ceeranna (38), Pomar Vikram (28), Pomar Anand (28), Pomar Kishore (19), Onteddu Kittaaiah (30), Ayachi Shantha Kumar (55) of Kadapa district and Bhukya Indra Raju (24) of Chitoor district of Andhra Pradesh.
Meanwhile, the other gang members Ravikumar, Mahima Raju and Sree Krishna are still on the run. Presenting the arrested persons before the media at Choutuppal police station, Yadadri DCP Yadagiri informed that the gang members used to stay at various villages by bird hunting and selling plastic flowers in those villages.
They would reside in makeshift huts on the outskirts of the villages. During their stay, they would identify innocent people and make friends with them by giving birds and other presents. Later, they would make them believe that they had gold and wanted to sell it for low rates.
For making them believe, the gang members would give some original gold for checking. Later, they would handover fake gold ornaments to them by taking huge amounts of money from them. After taking the money, the offenders would immediately move to another village by shifting their luggage.
The offenders would keep knives while committing the offence with an intension to threaten the victims whenever they resisted and tried to escape from them. The offenders have committed three offences in a span of three months in Nalgonda and Yadadri districts.
Based on the complaint of one of the victims, Marupaka Naveen of Markandeya Nagar of Choutuppal, the police formed crime teams to nab the culprits. The police successfully apprehended the two offenders Pomar Veeranna and Pomar Vikram when they were found moving suspiciously on the outskirts of Tangadepally of Choutuppal and quizzed the duo.
Basing on their confession, the police nabbed the other five gang members on the outskirts of Damera. “Police will arrest the rest of the offenders very soon,” the DCP said. Assistant Commissioner of Police Snehitha, CIs G Naveen Kumar and S Naveen Kumar and others participated in the press conference.
