Jagtial: Raksha Bandhan is the festival that signifies love and affection between brothers and sisters and also means ‘bond of protection’ celebrated across the country, said District Collector Dr A Sharath on Monday.

The festival was celebrated in all villages and mandals across the district with an unique slogan of ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ and girls of anganwadi centers have tied the Balika Raksha Bandhan rakhis to people’s representatives and government officials.

The girl children of Bala Sadan tied Balika Raksha Bandhan rakhis to Collector Dr A Sharath and Joint-Collector Mushraf Ali at an awareness programme of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao held at IMA hall in Jagtial on Monday.

Interacting with the children of Bala Sadan, the Collector asked them whether they had their breakfast in the morning or not and enquired about the quality of the food that was provided to them.

He ordered the representatives of Bala Sadan to arrange sweets to the children on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan along with providing special dish in the evening.

The girl children of anganwadi centres tied Balika Raksha Bandhan Rakhis to Jagtial MLA Jeevan Reddy at his residence.
