The Central government scheme introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ was organised on the occasion at the Collectorate conference hall here on Monday. Speaking on the occasion, the in-charge Collector said that girls must be treated equally with boys and must educate them to reach greater heights in their lives. The girl child will prove lucky to every family and house.

He said that the girls are competing equally with boys and performing well in all sectors. If the girls are encouraged in their interested fields they will excel in that field and will create wonders in the future. Many girls who had been encouraged by their parents reached greater heights and brought name and fame to the country, he pointed out. At present the ratio of men and women is 1000:971 in the country and it is everyone’s responsibility to save the girl child, Prabhakar Reddy said.

Women, Child, Disabled and Senior Citizen department District Officer Mula Vijaya Reddy lamented that discrimination of women and girl child is still prevailing in the society.

Girls will prove their talent and will achieve greater heights in their lives if only they are encouraged, sge added. There is a need to take stringent action against people, who indulge in girl feticides and to create awareness among the people about the importance of girl child, she observed.

Girls gave sweets to the in-charge Collector S Prabhakar Reddy. In-charge District Revenue Officer Ashok Kumar and other officials were present.
