Mahbubnagar: Recalling Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s praises on Bharatiya Janata Party leaders over Goods and Services Tax, Gadwal MLA DK Aruna asked the Chief Minister as to why he was criticising the GST now.

Speaking to newsmen here on Tuesday, Aruna alleged that TRS government was adopting discriminative attitude in land acquisition. She asked the Chief Minister to justify how it was correct to give Rs 5 to 6 lakh to the farmers, who lost their lands in Palamuru-Rangareddy project in Mahbubnagar, when the same government was paying more than Rs 15 lakh to Mallannasagar oustees.

“People are filing cases against the TRS government, not against Congress,” she clarified, adding that State government was giving an impression that the saris produced on powerlooms in Sircilla were handloom saris to distribute them to women during Bathukamma festival.

The former minister also said it was not proper for the Centre to impose 5 per cent GST on handlooms and opined that nominal GST was good. She also alleged that the KCR government was showing clear discrimination towards united Mahbubnagar district where handloom industry was big. The language being used by KCR, his son KT Rama Rao and Minister Harish Rao against the opposition was cheap and deplorable, she said.

Referring to filling of police posts, she said, “It appears that the government wants to suppress the people who revolted against it by using police. The Nerella incident was best example for government oppression against the people, who revolted against it.”
