Warangal Urban: The students of different schools in Warangal have taken out a rally marking the 75th anniversary of Quit India Movement, also known as the August Movement on Tuesday.

It might be noted that Mahatma Gandhi launched the Quit India Movement on August 8 1942 at the Bombay Session of the All India Congress Committee demanding the British to leave India. Marking the day, the students of Purnodaya Public School and Mahabub High School dressed in the attire of freedom fighters took out a rally.

The rally was flagged off by Greater Warangal Congress Committee working president Rajanala Srihari. Speaking on the occasion, he said Quit India Movement; a civil disobedience movement launched by Mahatma Gandhi had compelled the British to end their rule in India. Entire leadership of Indian National Congress was imprisoned and was out of contact with the masses.

It was a significant movement in Indian Freedom Struggle that led to independence of the nation from British rule. The 75th anniversary of Azad Hind Fauj also known as the Indian National Army founded by Subhas Chandra Bose has also been celebrated this year on September 1, Srihari noted.

Both Quit India Movement and formation of Azad Hind Fauj were both two big events in Indian history and every Indian must remember the freedom fighters who laid down their lives for the independence.

JB Arts proprietor Jadala Shiva, its honorary president Vijaya Bhasker Rao, M Mamata, B Kishan Rao and others were present.
