Khammam: The Left parties came down heavily on the state government alleging that it was adopting an autocratic rule in the state and was muzzling the opposition voices for criticising government’s anti-people policies.

Speaking to newsmen here at CPI party office, the leaders of Left parties strongly condemned the incident that took place at Kothagudem Thermal Power Station in Palvoncha where a contract worker, Keshboina Nageshwar Rao, committed suicide after he name was found missing in the job regularisation list.

People were working on contractual basis in KTPS for many now. Suddenly without any prior intimation, the government removed the names of the about 1,326 members of contract employees from the regularisation list. Many irregularities were taking place in the regularisation of contractual workers in the Electricity department too, they alleged.

Stating that the administration of KTPS did not even express its condolences and responded on the suicide of Rao, the party leaders condemned the arrest the Left party leaders who stood by the side of workers.

The Left leaders informed that they would take launch district-wide agitations on August 10 protesting the government’s anti-people policies, and demanding justice for the contract workers.

CPI party district secretary Bagam Hemanth Rao, Ravula Ram Prasad, Potu Prasad, SK Jani Miya, CPM party district secretary Ponnam Venkateshwar Rao, Nunna Nageshwar Rao and CPI (ML) ND party state secretary Rayala Chandrashekar were present along with others.
