Nalgonda: Tension prevailed at the Collectoarte when the activists of Akhil Bharatiya Vidhyarthi Parishad (ABVP) staged a dhrana before the Collectorate in Nalgonda on Wednesday. Ignoring the heavy rains, large number of students associated with ABVP reached the Collectorate and took part in the protest against government’s anti-student and youth policies.

Addressing the gathering, student leaders demanded the government to release pending fee dues of Rs 1,700 crore apart from lifting the ban of Act 30 imposed on students and cut the hostel mess charges. They also demanded removal of TSPSC Chairman Ganta Chakrapani over his failures of conducting exams properly and to clear all the issues of government hostels along with filling of vacant posts in universities.

When the protestors tried to enter the Collectorate, a scuffle broke out between the students and the police. To control the situation, police arrested the students and shifted them to One Town police station. They were released later.
