Hanamkonda: In a well-planned crackdown against the ganja peddlers, the Narcotics wing of Warangal Police Commissionerate raided several places in its ambit and arrested six persons and seized huge haul of ganja from them.

Speaking to the media persons here on Friday, the Commissioner of Police G Sudheer Babu said that they had formed four special teams to nab those involved in the growing and peddling of ganja. Based on information, the West Zone Narcotics team conducted simultaneous raids on several places in Nekkonda, Narsampet and Shayampet region. In all, the police seized 101 kgs of ganja worth around Rs 5 lakh.

He said that these farmers have been cultivating ganja as an internal crop in their cotton and red chilli fields. The arrested were identified as Banoth Sakru of Deekshakunta under Nekkonda mandal, Dharavath Veeranna of Kondasamudram under Narsampet mandal, Merugu Ganesh of Deekshakunta, Rupureddy Buchi Reddy of Pathipaka under Shayampet mandal, Muddam Chinna Mallu and Kukatla Ailaiah of Dasaripally under Narsampet mandal.

The Commissioner commended the West Zone DCP Ismail, Duggondi Inspector Bonala Kishan, Narsampet Sub-Inspector K Devender Reddy, Nekkonda S-I Mithun and Shayampet Rajababu, who took part in the raids.
