Hanamkonda: Telugu Desam national secretary Revuri Prakash Reddy said that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has the enviable knack of diverting the attention of the people. Addressing a press conference here on Friday, he said that the revival plan of Sri Ram Sagar Project (SRSP) is one such a ploy to deviate people from the hardships they were facing.

“When the Babli project issue between AP and Maharashtra was on the boil, KCR, who was in the Cabinet of the UPA government then, didn’t react. Now he blames the previous governments for lack of inflows into SRSP,” Reddy said.

He also questioned the rationale behind the TRS government’s agreement with Maharashtra of reducing the height of the Pranahitha-Chevella project to 148 meters from the originally planned 154 meters.

Stating that the TDP is not against the construction of irrigation projects, he said that they have been constantly raising a hue and cry over the way the government was wasting the taxpayers’ money. Take the case of Devadula redesigning, it was just to benefit the Andhra contractors, he alleged.

The TRS government, which is initiating projects one after the other without proper study and feasibility, is finally blaming the Opposition parties whenever it gets a rap from the courts, Reddy said. He found fault with the government machinery for forcibly using school buses of educational institutions to ferry the people to Pochampad in Nizamabad district where KCR addressed a public meeting on Thursday.

Referring to the Nerella (Rajanna-Sircilla district) incident, he criticised the MA&UD Minister KT Rama Rao for reacting to the issue after more than five weeks. He demanded the government to probe the incident with a sitting judge so that the details of the people involved in the sand mafia will come out.

Warangal Urban district president Eega Mallesham said that redesigning of the projects has become a profitable business for the TRS government. Though many of the redesigned projects are impossible to implement, the government is going with them to loot the public money, he criticised.

Warangal district general secretary Pulluru Ashok Kumar, Jangaon district president Kondam Madhusudhan Reddy, TNSF State vice-president Jatothu Santhosh Naik, district leaders Hanmakonda Sambaiah, Md Imam, Marka Vijay, Margam Sarangam, Md Raheem, Bairapaka Prabhaker, Jilukara Veeraswamy, Kusuma Shyam, Bochu Paramanandam, Gollapally Eeswarachary, Madasu Babu, Ch Ragubabu, Kagithala Jayashanker and Bommagani Shyam were among others present.
