Khammam: The State Joint Secretary of the Communist Party of India (CPI) Kunamneni Sambashiva Rao alleged that the rights of tribals were killed under the reign of TRS government.

Speaking at a district body meeting of Telangana Girijana Samakya (TGS) at Giri Prasad Bhavan in Khammam on Friday, Kunamneni said around 35 lakh tribals live in the State and 2 lakh of them belong to Khammam district alone.

Kunamneni said that tribals thought that their fate would be change after the formation of Telangana. But much to their disappointment, the government was trying to kill their rights instead of rendering justice to them, he alleged.

“The TRS government did not fulfill a single promise it made during 2014 polls. For the last three years, it is damaging the crops of tribals cultivated in Forest lands in the name of Haritha Haram and foisting false cases for opposing its move,” he criticised.

He demanded the government to sanction loans to the tribals cultivating the lands apart from giving them pattas as per the Forest Rights Act 2005, and withdrawal of cases registered against them lest they launch an agitation against the government.

Party district secretary Bagam Hemanth and others attended the meeting.
