Khammam: Coming down heavily on the IT Minister K T Rama Rao, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) State secretary Tammineni Veerabhadram said that leaders of the opposition parties were not tourists as quoted by the Minister.

It may be mentioned here that KTR reportedly said that Opposition leaders were like tourists and they wanted to make an issue out of nothing in regard with the Nerella incident in which some persons were allegedly tortured by the police.

“KTR, who called Opposition party leaders as tourists, has in fact met the victims after five weeks into the incident like a tourist,” Tammineni said, addressing a meeting here on Friday.

Even though it was too late, KTR finally met the victims of Nerella and assured them of justice. Following the DIG-rank officer’s probe, the sub-inspector of Nerella was suspended for his excessive. Then what about the comments made by KTR who earlier supported the police,” Veerabhadram said, demanding the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao to take action against KTR. Further, he demanded KTR to tender his apology to the victims.

By merely suspending the SI, the government will not escape. There needs to be a thorough investigation to find out those involved in the sand mafia, he said, seeking the resignation of KTR on moral grounds for “telling lies to the people” about quitting Himanshu Motors.

Party State secretariat member P Sudarshan Rao demanded the government to waive the crop loans besides announcing remunerative price to all the produces. He urged the party cadres to observe World Peace and Anti-imperialist Day on September 1.
