Units of various welfare schemes worth Rs 31.18 crores that were sanctioned under several departments were distributed to about 1,375 beneficiaries on the occasion of Independence Day, Finance Minister Eatala Rajender informed.
Karimnagar: Units of various welfare schemes worth Rs 31.18 crores that were sanctioned under several departments were distributed to about 1,375 beneficiaries on the occasion of Independence Day, Finance Minister Eatala Rajender informed.
As the chief guest at the 71st Independence Day celebrations held at Police Parade Grounds in Karimnagar on Tuesday, the Minister unfurled the national flag.
Addressing the participants, Minister Rajender said the government, aimed to develop the down-trodden people living across the State, has been introducing unique schemes.
Through District and Rural Development Agency (DRDA), loans worth about Rs 20 crore were sanctioned to about 472 Self Help Groups (SHG) members linking with the banks along with Stree Nidhi loans worth Rs 5 crores to about 789 SHG members. Rs 13 lakh loans each to six beneficiaries was disbursed under agriculture department, Rs 3 lakh each under District Welfare department, Rs 2.47 lakh to 52 SHG members under MEPMA and Rs 13 lakh each to 24 beneficiaries under self-employment were sanctioned with bank linkage.
Later the Finance Minister handed-over prizes to the best Tableaux that were displayed on the occasion of Independence Day. Animal Husbandry Tableaux got the first prize, tableaux of City Municipal Corporation got the second and tableaux of agriculture department bagged third prize. Consolation prize was given to the tableaux of District Rural Development department.
The Minister handed over prizes to the students of various educational institutions, who performed best in the cultural activities on the occasion.
Karimnagar Sports School bagged first prize, while Alphores High School students go the second and Kasturba Girls High School got the third prize. Consolation prizes were given to the students Sai Alekya Social and Cultural Organisation and Model High School.
District Collector Sarfaraz Ahmed, Commissioner of Police V B Kamalasan Reddy, Chairman of State Cultural Corporation Rasamai Balakishan, MLC Naradasu Lakshman Rao, MLAs Gangula Kamalakar, Bodiga Shoba and Sathish Kumar, City Mayor Ravinder Singh, Joint-Collector B Srinivas, Dairy Corporation Chairman Rajeshwar Rao and City Municipal Commissioner Shashank were present along with others.
