Asifabad: The 71st Independence Day celebrations were conducted on a grand scale in Asifabad district as this is the first Independence Day after the district formation.

Speaking on the occasion, District Collector Champalal said that he is lucky enough to have the honour of hoisting the national flag on Independence Day of the new district and pay tributes to the holy souls, who sacrificed their lives to free the country.

“Our country's progress in the last seven decades speaks the truth how we have succeeded post-independence and it is the duty of the upcoming generation to craft the future India,” the Collector stated.

He appreciated the police department and all other departments for maintaining the zeal and enthusiasm in their fields and giving their best to keep the spirit going of patriotism.

MLA Koneru Konappa called upon the officials and the people of the district to work hard and put their efforts to make the district the most fast developing district among other newly formed ones in the State.

Students have presented various cultural programmes and the several departments have displayed the government’s schemes.

Officials and staff were honoured with excellency awards for their selfless hard work.

Sirpur MLA Koneru Konappa and Collector Champalal presented the best anganwadi teacher award to Macharla Vinoda.

District Special Officer A U Khan and other officials hoisted the flag at DMWO office complex.
