The 71st Indian Independence Day was celebrated with patriotic fervour and enthusiasm across the district on Tuesday as national flag was hoisted at various government and private institutions on the day.

Warangal: The 71st Indian Independence Day was celebrated with patriotic fervour and enthusiasm across the district on Tuesday as national flag was hoisted at various government and private institutions on the day.

At Kapil House in Hanamkonda, grand celebrations were held marking the Independence Day. Kapil Group president U Krishna Mohan unfurled the national flag and extended wishes to the employees and citizens in the city.

He said everyone celebrates the freedom achieved from the British rule in grand manner but such freedom should not be misused. Every individual should honour and deliver his responsibilities towards the society in a way one defends his or her rights.

Director M Aravidham, the group executive director M Satyanarayana Rao, assistant general manager N Ramchander, regional managers and staff of Kapil Chit Funds, Kapil Homes and the staff of HMTV and The Hans India were present. At TSNPDCL corporate office, its CMD A Gopal Rao hoisted national flag. He called upon the employees to make committed efforts to serve the consumers. Rs 190 crores were being spent for providing 24-hour power supply to irrigation needs and 141 sub-stations were set up newly.

At Kakatiya University, Vice-Chancellor Prof R Sayanna hoisted the national flag and released newsletter `Vivechana’. He asked the teaching and non-teaching staff to dedicate themselves to the noble task of imparting quality education to the students at the university.

At KU SDLCE, its Director Prof Ch Dinesh Kumar hoisted the national flag and wished the faculty and staff. At Kakatiya Institute of Technology and Science Warangal its Director Y Manohar hoisted national flag and said the institute was ranked 3rd in Teleangana state and ranked 59th in India in a survey by Data Quest.

At Congress Bhavan, city Congress president K Srinivasa Rao hoisted the national flag where former mayor E Swarna, DCC Bank chairman J Raghava Reddy, the TPCC general secretary Namindla Srinivas and others were present.

At Warangal Chowrastha, city Congress working president Rajanala Srihari took part in Independence Day celebrations organised by Kakatiya Auto Drivers Union. He addressed students at peace rally taken out by Sharada Public School students.
