Mancherial: Seeking justice, 28-year-old Lavanya on Wednesday staged a dharna in front of her husband’s house at Ramakrishnapur in Abraham Nagar of Mandamarri mandal.

Lavanya and Naresh of Ramakrishnapur fell in love when they were working in a private company in Hyderabad and got married in 2016.

Lavanya said that Naresh treated her well initially but his attitude was changed during their stay with his parents in Ramakrishnapur. She accused Naresh of subjecting her to mental harassment.

Lavanya said she had lodged a complaint with local police against his family members in the past. Following which, police had given counselling to them and later the couple shifted to Hyderabad.

She said that Naresh resigned six months ago without informing her and returned to his parents in Ramakrishnapur.
Lavanya came to Ramakrishnapur on Tuesday and spend the night at the bus stand.

She said, “As soon as I stepped into my in-laws’ house on Wednesday morning, Naresh, his brother and his elder sisters severely beat me.”

Lavanya approached the police requesting them to render justice by sending Naresh along with her. But she alleged that the police were neglecting her complaint coming under pressure from a local TRS leader.

“I will approach higher officials to persuade Naresh to live with me if I didn’t get justice. If I don’t get justice even then, then I will commit suicide,” she warned.

Lavanya alleged that a local ruling party leader has been supporting Naresh because of which his family members had even attacked her. She questioned whether the leader would tolerate if his daughter is subjected to similar ill-treatment.
