Gadwal: The district administration of the Jogulamba Gadwal is planning to go for a comprehensive land survey to streamline the revenue records of the newly-formed district. The district, which was carved out from erstwhile Mahbubnagar, is spread across 2,928 square kilometers with 12 mandals, 226 revenue villages with a population of 6.65 lakh.

According to senior officials of the district, the main objective of the comprehensive land survey was to rejig the entire Revenue department and prevent irregularities. Currently, the district is facing lot of irregularities with regard to sale of ceiling, assigned and other government lands.

According to officials, every mandal revenue office in the district was crammed with hundreds of land disputes, and in majority cases, the land mafia earning crores of rupees by grabbing the ceiling and assigned lands and turning them into real estate ventures by laying illegal layouts and selling the plots to public.

“Particularly in the Alampur region, where hundreds of acres of ceiling and assigned lands allotted to grow cattle fodder was grabbed by the land mafia. The region in Dharmavaram village of Itikyala mandal is also no different.

To evict land grabbers and protect the government and assigned lands, we have decided to take up a comprehensive land survey and will streamline the entire land revenue records by digitising and assigning unique codes to the pattadar passbook holder,” informed Dr Sangeetha, Joint Collector.

As most of the ceiling and government lands were illegally transferred to ineligible persons by the corrupt officials in the revenue offices, the district administration as part of its survey would issue Pattadar pass books with unique codes.

Moving ahead with the preparations of the land survey, the officials have already begun the process of gathering details. Officials said that the modernisation of the revenue system and the issuance of passbooks in a more modern manner would address several problems and put a check on the existing irregularities.

“As almost all the villages in the district are filled with disputes related to land. Some influential and rich people are resorting to several irregularities like removing names of actual owners from Pahani certificates and revenue records by conniving with the corrupt revenue officials.

However, such irregularities will now be stopped with the introduction of new system. To gather ground level details, we are organising Gram Sabhas in all villages and preparing the list of revenue records by rectifying mistakes and gathering details of the dead and alive owners. We are also rectifying wrongly entered survey numbers and names,” informed the Joint Collector.

As everything is in place for the comprehensive land survey, the district administration is waiting for government’s nod to go ahead.
