G Shyam Kumar, The Hans India Warangal staff photographer, has won the second prize for his photograph in the Digital Photography Contest-2017 conducted jointly by the Telangana Photo Journalist Association (TPJA) and Telangana Youth Advancement, Tourism & Culture Department in commemoration of upcoming World Photography Day on August 19.

Warangal: G Shyam Kumar, The Hans India Warangal staff photographer, has won the second prize for his photograph in the Digital Photography Contest-2017 conducted jointly by the Telangana Photo Journalist Association (TPJA) and Telangana Youth Advancement, Tourism & Culture Department in commemoration of upcoming World Photography Day on August 19.

The photograph depicting the Deputy Chief Minister, K Srihari, collapse on the dais during his speech on Telangana Formation Day, June 2, has earned Shyam the second best in the ‘Best News Picture’ category. He will receive a memento and cash reward at a function to be held at Ravindra Bharati in Hyderabad on August 19.

Shyam, who has been working with The Hans India since its inception, has altogether an experience of 12 years and so far, had won as many as 12 awards at the State and district-level photography contests.

He won the State government’s Best Photographer award from Warangal in 2016. Sampeta Sudhakar, a vernacular daily newspaper’s photographer, of Warangal also bagged a consolation prize in ‘Palle Andalu’ category.

Warangal Photo Journalist Association members M Murali, C Varaprasad, G Venkanna, M Kishor, K Ramesh, D Srinivasulu, Md Mashook, A Sampath Kumar, G Venu, S Chandrasekhar, S Venkat and Ch Shyam were among others, who greeted Shyam Kumar.

Warangal Press Club president Gaddam Keshava Murthy, Pinna Shiv Kumar, Goli Vittal, V Sai Pradeep, G Venkat and HMTV Staffer L Bala Kumar also congratulated Shyam Kumar.
