Mahbubnagar: The Retired Village Revenue Officers Association (RVROA) in Mahbubnagar has welcomed the government’s move to conduct a comprehensive land survey across the state.

Interacting with The Hans India, president of the Association Narender Reddy said, “The decision of comprehensive land survey by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao is a bold one and our Association welcomes it.

No state has taken such decision after country’s independence. The last such survey was conducted in 1936 in the country and because of no proper land records since decades, there has been many pending land issues and disputes.”

He further added that taking advantage of such situation, many in connivance with corrupt officials were resorting to land grabbing and thousands of government lands have been encroached upon.

“A comprehensive land survey will only help in restructuring the revenue records, and using technology, we can make the entire system more transparent and accountable,” he opined

At present, there are hundreds of cases pending in every mandal revenue offices across the state. As there are no proper land records, thousands of acres of government land and assigned lands are being illegally grabbed by the real estate mafia causing crores of rupees loss to the government.

The members of the Association felt that a comprehensive survey was long-pending and it was only because of KCR that has become a reality.

With this survey, the members hoped that the revenue records would now be streamlined and a transparent system would evolve which would not only facilitate the revenue officials to take up land-related issues with more effectiveness, but would also help in resolving the pending disputes among the land holders and also speed up the correction of erroneous records.

“As members of the Association, we fully support the initiative taken up by the government and would be happy to extend our services to the government. If the government gives us any responsibility we are ready to render our services,” said Narasimha Rao.
