The members of Telangana Kakatiya Trade Union (TKTU) have called off their relay hunger strike following an assurance by the university authorities to address their issues.

Hanamkonda: The members of Telangana Kakatiya Trade Union (TKTU) have called off their relay hunger strike following an assurance by the university authorities to address their issues.

It might be noted that the union members have been staging relay hunger strike for the past several days demanding to address the issues such as equal pay for equal work related to daily wage and casual employees.

The union leaders S Rajamouli, Pulla Srinivas and M Ravi speaking to presspersons on Wednesday stated that they have withdrawn the stir in view of the visit of National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) team to the university and the assurance of the authorities to resolve the demands.

They further said that the Deputy Chief Minister K Srihari and MLA D Vinay Bhasker have also asked the union leaders to call off the stir in view of the NAAC team visit. The union leadership in order to uphold the image of the university and its welfare has decided to withdraw the relay strike.

The university Registrar Prof K Purushotham, along with the SDLCE Director Prof Ch Dinesh Kumar, Arts College Principal Prof B Ilaiah, Prof Sarangapani and others visited the strike camp. He told the union leaders that the issues their raised would be addressed after the visit of the NAAC visit in September.
