Warangal: As the BJP top functionaries are busy hitting at China’s aggression on Indian borders, Swadeshi Jagaran Manch, an economic wing of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) is taking the war against Chinese products to grassroots level.
With the main objective of educating the masses on quitting the habit of purchasing Chinese products, Swadeshi Jagaran Manch (SJM) is conducting programmes across Telangana State. In doing so the manch has been involving students, educated elite as well as rural masses.
“We, the Indians are helping China to earn a profit of Rs 60, 000 crores annually from its business here. It is six times more than the offerings made to famous temples in India by the devotees,” the SJM national organising secretary Kashmiri Lal told The Hans India.
He is on a tour from Kashmir to Kanyakumari as part of the manch’s campaign and visited Warangal on Thursday. He said the result of buying Chinese products is that nearly 300 big industrial units, 200 industrial clusters and nearly one lack small scale industries are closed in India. As a result, lakhs of workers are rendered jobless. India is facing trade deficit of 45 per cent because of the products from China and India is losing 52 billion dollars’ worth trade annually. And it is not good for Indian economy.
Stating the reasons for boycotting Chinese products, Kashmiri Lal said besides affecting Indian economy, the products also causing health and environmental problems. China accounts for 21 per cent global pollution and its products have also a cause of worry in terms security of India.
Apart from that Chinese aggression on Indian borders and its support to Pakistan have also posing threat to Indian sovereignty. ‘Boycotting Chinese products is the best solution to all the above problems and it is the duty of every citizen to stop buying China products in the interest of our nation,’ Lal suggested.
More than one crore population supported a signature campaign by the manch. In 500 districts in the country, memorandums addressed to the Centre were submitted to district administrations seeking prevention of imports from China.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi called upon the countrymen to stop buying Chinese crackers. The Centre is doing its part to stop Chinese imports but it is not at satisfactory level,” Kashmiri Lal felt.
The manch Telangana co-convener S Laxmana Charya said awareness is being created among the public and students through books, rallies and meetings. ‘There is a good response to the campaign from the students’.
Seminars and symposiums for doctors, lawyers, members of Chamber of Commerce and Trade will be conducted in the days to come across erstwhile Warangal district and Telangana. “A good thing is that orders to wholesale dealers in Hyderabad for Chinese products from districts are dwindling,” Charya said.
A grand rally will be organised on October 29 at Ram Leela Ground New Delhi. Invitations are sent to all likeminded outfits, leaders of different political parties, including Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama, the SJM leaders revealed.
