CPM seeks action against Dummaigudem VRO
District secretary of the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPM) Ponnam Venkateshwar Rao demanded the government take action against the Village Revenue Officer of Dummaigudem, who violated rules and did not allow the village Sarpanch to hoist the national flag on the occasion of Independence Day on August 15 in Khammam.

In a press release, Ponnam condemned the action of the VRO who had insulted the village Sarpanch Devalli Jyothi, who had been elected as Sarpanch under ST reserved category, by not allowing her to hoist the tricolour.
“As per the rule, the Sarpanch must unfurl the national flag on the special occasions like Independence Day and Republic Day in the village. But on August 15, the VRO hoisted the national flag by not allowing the Sarpanch, he alleged.
He demanded government to suspend the VRO for violating the rules and for insulting the woman Sarpanch.
