Kothagudem: SCCL Chairman & Managing Director N Sridhar issued orders regarding implementation of minimum wages to the outsourcing employees in Singareni as per the amended wages announced by the Central government with effect from January 19, 2017.

He said about 14,921 employees would be benefitted by the decision. Unskilled labourers’ daily wages will increase from Rs 313 to Rs 350 and private security guards’ wages from Rs 330 to Rs 494 as per the new orders.

So far, the minimum wages fixed by the State government were being implemented to the outsourcing employees of civil, housekeeping, guest houses, Forestry, security, mining and other works.

The decision would be a burden on the company’s exchequer where it has to shell out Rs 2.07 crore more every month. The outsourcing employees expressed their happiness over implementation of wages fixed by the Central government.

Increases maternity leave to 26 weeks
The SCCL has increased the maternity leave from 12 weeks to 26 weeks and issued the orders to that effect on Friday. This comes in the wake of the amendment by the Centre to the Maternity Benefit Act 1961, which was published in the official gazette. Increased leave will not be applicable to those who have more than two children.

The old rule of 12 weeks leave would be applicable to them. Employees and labourers’ expressed their happiness over the order.
