Hyderabad: "India is exemplary of the unity in diversity principle with multi-cultural, multi-lingual, multi-religious populace that is unique to India in the world, for seventy years since independence. Where India gives its citizenry the right to expression, it also gives people the right to live free, independently and have their own liberal opinions", said eminent electronic media journalist Padma Shri Vinod Dua.

Delivering his keynote address at a seminar on 'India after Independence' at Media Plus Auditorium organised by The Freedom Press English Daily, the first newspaper launched by the student community, Vinod Dua advised the students to "refrain from personal indulgence with politicians or bureaucrats" while only using their connections "from a distance and merely maintain it for reporting news".

He also observed that "unlike in olden days when journalists were at liberty to report and disclose facts unhindered, in the current times the agenda for reporting news is dictated and filtered by corporate entities and owners of these media houses."
He also noted that "claims of the ruling party of retaining majority in the 2019 elections were hollow at core, and only time will show its true outcome".

"The citizenry has three types of power: financial power, education power and the power to vote”. The citizenry can exercise its vote to choose its government. The veteran journalist also interacted with journalism students of Maulana Azad National Urdu University, before responding to queries of the participating media.

Media Plus CEO Syed Khaled Shahbaaz presented a video documentary on the life and career of Vinod Dua acknowledging over 43 years of electronic and print media career.

Zahed Ali Khan, editor of Siasat daily presented a book on 'The AsifJahi Kitchens' to Dr Chinna Dua. Young editor of The Freedom Press Daily Abdullah Khan presented a memento to Vinod Dua. On this occasion, Vinod Dua felicitated Zahid Ai Khan, Editor - Siasat Daily on completing 50 years of his journalistic career and Dr Syed Fazil Hussain Parvez, Chief Editor of Gawah Urdu Weekly acknowledging his 35 years as a journalist.
