Protest against lack of water supply for 15 days

Mancherial: Women with empty vessels staged a demonstration in front of the Collectorate here on Monday, led by local BJP leader Pusala Venkanna.

Addressing the protestors, he criticised the politicians, who approach the people for votes before the elections but later ignore to solve their problems. The situation is so worse that the women have to fight for water, he lamented.

Residents of STR Nagar alleged that there is no water supply in the area for the last 15 days. They accused the municipal officials of failing to solve the water shortage even after repeated reminders. The residents stated that there was water supply only twice during the last seven days.

According to the agitating women, both the municipal officials and people’s representatives were neglecting the issue. They pointed out that water shortage was due to lack of borewells.

In the absence of drinking water supply, the residents said they were skipping bath and not sending their children to school, while hitting out strongly at politicians. Locals Tirupati Reddy, Rajeshwari, Anasuya and Radha were among those, who participated in the demonstration.
