Few minutes into the meeting, the oustees expressed their anger for gagging their voices and demanded the officials to record their opinion first.

Demanding justice, oustees raised slogans against government. “Either pay sufficient compensation or decrease the capacity of the reservoirs,” victims sought.

Addressing the oustees, Collector Anita Ramachandran assured justice to them and informed that very soon officials concerned would tour the villages and record every individual oustee’s opinion. Only after that, a detailed report would be send to government for compensation package to the victims.

Later speaking to media, the Collector informed that along with the oustees of Basvapur, Gandamalla reservoirs, intellectuals, representatives of political parties, NGOs and environmentalists participated in the meeting and as many as 93 persons recorded their opinions.

A detailed report of meeting would be send to Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate change for future course of action, she informed.

Meanwhile, a contingent of police was deployed at the venue of public hearing to avoid any untoward incident. MP Boora Narsaiah Goud, MLAs Shekar Reddy and Prabhakar Reddy, MLCs Karne Prabhakar and Elimineti Krishna Reddy, engineers, Kaleshwaram project Executive Engineer, Joint Collector Ravi Naik, Revenue Divisonal Officer Boopal Reddy and public in large numbers participated in the meeting.
