Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday here, Ravi said Rs 250 crore was sanctioned to over 25,000 SCs.

He said a mandal-level committee has shortlisted over 645 SCs to advance loans for their self-employment. Of them, 97 got loans to the tune of Rs 7.97 crore. He called upon beneficiaries to avail Rs 5 lakh loan and improve their financial status by taking up business.

“Under the SC Action Plan, 2,700 persons have been identified as beneficiaries under various programmes. Of them, 112 illicit arrack distillers have been identified for rehabilitation. Of the 112, as many as 92 will be given loans up to Rs 2 lakh with full subsidy to purchase buffaloes or start provisional stores to generate self-employment,” he said.

He further informed that in collaboration with Uber company, over 500 would be given cabs on September 5. “Over 31 have been selected for overseas education programme,” he said, adding that the SC corporation pays Rs 20 lakh to each beneficiary. Annually, two batches would be selected for the overseas education programme.
