Mancherial: Shankar, a labourer of Dandepalli mandal in the district who fell sick recently received timely financial help from his friends and after diagnosis revealed failure of both kidneys.

The labourer, who has to feed his wife and two daughters, has been finding it hard to get medical treatment. He had to undergo dialysis during the last one year. His health condition has deeply moved his SSC classmates who studied with Shankar in 1993-94, although settled in different places.

The classmates passed on the information of Shankar’s ailment to their friends in foreign countries. As a result, an amount of Rs.2.5 lakh was mobilised by TANA in the Netherlands. A cheque for the amount was handed over to Shankar’s family by local MLA Diwakar Rao on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, Shankar expressed happiness over the gesture of his friends in raising money for his treatment, while recalling that he was passing through difficult days.

His friends appealed to philantrophists to come to the rescue of Shankar’s family in view of their abject poverty.
