Tribal bodies rally for their rights
Several tribal organisations took out a rally led by Thudumdebba from the Market Yard to the Collectorate here on Thursday demanding cancellation of Pahanis (land documents) issued to non-tribals on August 18.
Asifabad: Several tribal organisations took out a rally led by Thudumdebba from the Market Yard to the Collectorate here on Thursday demanding cancellation of Pahanis (land documents) issued to non-tribals on August 18.
Speaking to the media, they alleged that the peoples’ representatives were in hand in glove with people belonging to other communities are repressing tribal rights. They demanded for a survey of their lands and threatened to intensify the agitation moment if their demand wasn’t met.
The protesters handed over a memorandum regarding the same to the Tahsildar Satyanarayana Goud. Satyanarayana Goud assured justice to them.
Later, they submitted a memorandum at the Police Station here demanding filing of criminal cases against the District Collector Champalal, MLA Kova Lakshmi and MLC Puranam Sathish who tried to infringe on their rights.
