Jagtial: District Collector Dr A Sharath urged the farmers to utilise various types of schemes introduced by the State government for the welfare of the farming community.

He inspected the farm lands in Metlachittapur village of Metpalli mandal on Sunday. The Collector enquired a farmer, Rajarapu Bhuvaneshwar, about the new techniques adopted by him in cultivating various types of crops in his land.

The Collector informed the farmers to take the suggestions of agricultural officials to get maximum yield with less investments by adopting modern technology along with utilising various types of government welfare schemes.

Later, the Collector participated in plantation of about 1,000 saplings covering five kilometers under ‘Avenue plantation’ programme under SRSP canal in Yakinpura village of Korutla mandal.

Speaking on the occasion, the Collector Dr A Sharath said plenty of rainfall can be witnessed in future by planting large number of saplings.

Out of the target of 132 lakh saplings to be planted in the district under Telanganaku Haritha Haram project, about 90,000 saplings were planted till date, informed the Collector. The staff of all departments must complete their set targets of plantation drive from village to mandal-level along with takings necessary steps for protecting them by geo-tagging, Sarath advised.

The Collector urged all sections of people to participate in large numbers in Haritha Haram programme to make it a grand success. District Rural Development Agency Project Director J Aruna Sri, DRDA Assistant Project Director Sundar Varadarajan, Korutla MPDOs Gangula Santosh and Venkatesh, and Metpally MPDO Venkatesh Jadav and Tahsildar Satyanarayana were present along with others.
