Godavari receives heavy inflows

Luxettipet: River Godavari has been receiving heavy inflows following the rain lashing the district for the last two days. The upstream areas have been receiving heavy showers since Saturday. Consequent to the inflows, one of the Kadem reservoir’s crest gate was opened and 6,200 cusecs water was released.

Many streams are overflowing due to heavy rains and this rain water was also flown into Godavari as also the Kadem reservoir. An old bridge on the river in Dandepalli mandal was submerged.

Following the floods in Godavari River, Tahsildars of Dandepalli and Luxettipet Dattu Prasad Rao and Srinivas have appealed to the people not to approach the adjoining areas.

The Tahsildars said the revenue staff was already alerted not to allow visitors to the riverbank and its nearby areas.
