Kazipet: The city of Kazipet has many specialties like part of headquarters of Kakatiya dynasty in the past, second largest erstwhile Warangal district after Hyderabad, famous for its railway junction that connects north and south India, largest diesel maintenance division etc. But all these have failed to develop the city.

The city is also famous for Mettu Gutta temple, Fathima Church and Biabani Dargah. None of the successive governments had neglected the city development.

The city has several colonies like Bapuji Nagar, Vishnupuri, Venkatadri Nagar, Bhavani Nagar, Diesel Colony, Nehrunagar, Rehmathnagar, Vidya- nagar, Balajinagar, Jubilee Market and Somidi and almost all colonies are crying for better roads, hospitals and drainage system.

The mini stadium in front of railway station and burial ground at Vidya Nagar sans development while the delay in extension works of Kazipet main centre, widening works of 100 feet road from Diesel Colony to Fathima Nagar chowasta, no parallel bridge to the existing Fathima bridge are creating problems to the residents of the city.

Chemmala Raju, resident of Vishnupuri said that the locals are facing problems without a major government hospital here. The Kazipet residents have to go to MGM hospital in Warangal even for minor health issues, which is 12 km from here, with heavy traffic snarls from Kazipet to Warangal via Hanamkonda.

“We have no choice. No government paid attention to the basic problems of the city and the needs of the people till date,” he alleged.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener Daraboina Srikanth Yadav said that no one is paying attention to the basic problems and development of the city. The traffic congestion became a routine for the commuters, as most of the city roads are narrow and encroached by shopkeepers.

Many people hoped that at least the TRS government that came to power after the formation of Telangana State will focus its attention on the development of the city but nothing is changed, he lamented.

On the other hand, the sitting legislator of TRS party, Dasyam Vinay Bhaskar, claimed that he had done a lot for the development of Kazipet city during his tenure with the support and encouragement from the government.

“All the necessary steps are underway for improving the infrastructure of the city, which will definitely bring an improvement in the quality of the life of all those people living in and around the city along with developing Kazipet Chowrastha as a Model one in the tate,” he assured.
