Jedcherla: Representatives of all opposition parties staged a dharna at the Ambedkar Circle here on Monday demanding Rs 20 lakh per acre as compensation to the oustees of Udandapur Reservoir.

While the leaders were speaking on the issue, TRS party activists along with a few farmers tried to submit a memorandum to the Tahsildar at his office, stating that they were in favour of the project. Upon learning the same, the agitating leaders forced themselves into the Tahsildar’s Office.

Soon, tension prevailed in the area with clashes between the protestors and the police. Former Union Minister Jaipal Reddy, Mallu Ravi and Prof Hara Gopal also took part in the dharna.

Similarly in Wanaparthy, the leaders of all opposition parties staged a dharna at the Dharna Chowk demanding the State government stop the diversion of Dindi project water from Narlapur.

Legislator G Chinna Reddy demanded the State government to divide Palamuru-Ranga Reddy Lift Irrigation project into two phases and suggested release of Nagarjunasagar Project water into Krishna river. He demanded completion of Kalvakurthi, Bheema, Netampadu and Koilsagar projects besides implementation of Land Acquisition Act, 2013.
