Karimnagar: The officials of various departments were directed to take necessary steps for peaceful immersion of Ganesh Idols on September 3 in Karimnagar.

District Collector Sarfaraz Ahmed along with local MLA Gangula Kamalakar, City Mayor Ravinder Singh and Commissioner of Police V B Kamalasan Reddy chaired a meeting with the officials of various departments and with the representatives of various political parties to discuss on the arrangements to be made for the immersion here at the Collectorate conference hall in Karimnagar on Monday.

Speaking at the meeting, the Collector said that four different places - Manakodur lake, Kothapally lake, SRSP Canal near Eenadu office and Chintakunta SRSP Canal - were identified for immersion of Ganesh idols. One district-level officer will be deployed as Nodal officer to organise the immersion process peacefully at the immersion points.

District Revenue Officer Venkateshwar Rao at Manakondur Lake, Deputy Director of Education Department Jayashankar at Kothapally Lake and District Agriculture Officer V Sridhar at SRSP Canal were appointed as Nodal Officers to supervise the immersion process of Ganesh idols, he informed.

The Collector ordered the SRSP engineers to release the water from LMD from Tuesday onwards for filling the lakes along with arranging four big cranes at each immersion point.

The officials were also ordered to take necessary steps for arranging drinking water and lighting facility by roadside to the immersion points along with uninterrupted power supply and arranging generators at the immersion points. They were also told to keep best swimmers ready to prevent any untoward incidents.

The Collector ordered the excise department officials to issue orders for closing wine and belt shops from September 1 till the completion of immersion process of Ganesh idols. Traffic police staff were directed to take steps for completing the immersion process by sharp 11 am to 12 pm .

Commissioner of Police V B Kamalasan Reddy said that about 1,453 Ganesh pandals were set up in and around Karimnagar city. All Ganesh idols were geo-tagged and the Ganesh pandals will be inspected for every one hour, he said.

To inspect the immersion process and to organise it in a peaceful atmosphere, as many as 20 CCTV cameras were installed at various points till the immersion points along with making tight security arrangements to prevent any untoward incidents, the top cop informed.

City Municipal Commissioner Shashank, Deputy Mayor Guggilla Ramesh, Rural Development Officers Raja Goud and Chennaiah, District Medical and Health Officer Dr Rajesham, representative of Vishwa Hindu Parishad Navaneeth Rao and Rajendar Reddy, Urban Bank Chairman Karra Rajashekar and District Revenue Officer Venkateshwar Rao were present along with others.
