Hanamkonda: The seven-member National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) peer team has arrived in Hanamkonda on Monday to carry out assessment of Kakatiya University for awarding the NAAC grade.

The NAAC peer team physical inspection and assessment of the university would continue on Tuesday and Wednesday. A seven-member team is being led by Mahatma Gandhi Chitrakoot Gramodaya Vishwavidyalaya, Madhya Pradesh, vice-chancellor Prof N C Goutam.

Prof Gautam Sanyal is the convener of the team while Kanhaiah Ahuja, AV Singh, Prof HP Pande, Prof Sanjeev Puri and Prof YK Gupta are the members. On their arrival at the university, the team was given a warm welcome by the KU Vice-Chancellor Prof R Sayanna while the NCC cadets presented a guard of honour. Later, Prof Sayanna made a presentation to the team members at committee hall on the progress made by Kakatiya University during the past five years.

The team, divided into three groups, has visited different colleges and departments, women study centre, library, yoga centre, examination branch, foreign relations office, NSS and industry linkage wing on the first of the inspection.

The heads of respective department have made presentations regarding the activities of their departments. The team members have also met and interacted with faculty, non-teaching staff, principals of university colleges, alumni, parents of students and the city elite.

Former students of the university - Mahabubabad MP retired Prof A Seetaram Naik and Ambedkar University Vice-Chancellor Prof K Seetarama Rao have also attended the interaction meeting on the day.

Professors N Gopi Krishna, M Sarangapani and S Srinath have assisted the NAAC team. At the exit meet scheduled on August 30, the team would present the report to the university Vice-Chancellor. The previous visit of the NAAC team took place in 2009 in which the university accredited with ‘A’ grade.
